Just seen a tweet from TFL which says the M4 elevated section has been closed due to a crack having been found in the structure. I was supposed to be travelling through there later on today. I guess not now?

The country's fundamental infrastructure is decaying at an alarming rate and we're spunking billions on a high speed railway that no fker will use, just like the one from London to Kent.

In all fairness, the railway is a drop in the ocean, compared to the amounts that "we" waste on other junk . . . . how many miles of road or track, do you think we could have replaced, with the cash wasted on Windmills and other climate lie nonsense

It has been cars and vans only (< 7.5t) from M4 junc 3 for some months already.

I suspect, post the Olympics, it'll be closed for months/years for full repairs.

Perhaps all those supposed bodies in the concrete have decayed, speeding the crumbling.........

The government are in a bit of a fix with the M4 - if you do bite the bullet and decide the whole elevated section needs to be replaced, where the hell do you put the traffic?

Sounds like you should have left last night.

On a slightly more helpful note, have you tried checking BBC traffic updates, et al?

I'd head up to the A40, pick up the M40 and follow it all the way to White City, then drop down to Kensington.

Surely that will be the official diversion route and be extra busy. May need to cut further North and come in via A41 or A1(M)/M1 even.

It'll be horrible whatever. And it isn't going to get any better, anytime soon. frown

M4 to Uxbridge then pick up the A4020 Uxbridge Rd through Hayes Southall?
