Overfilled with oil

Just accidentally put too much oil in ! Bugger !!

about 4-5mm over the full marker. What's the next course of action and the consequences if I do nothing ?

4-5mm? dont worry, i overfill mine on track days on purpose, just in case of oil surge.

Is that 4-5mm on a cold engine stood overnight or just back from a run?

If it is isn't a cold engine I would drain a little out. I once made the mistake of topping up an engine on my old 4x4 that looked low when hot after seeing oil under the car. The oil turned out to be from the gearbox (very dirty oil) and the next morning my dipstick showed a clear 1/2 litre over max.

Of course, and I know I can unscrew it. I just need to know if I have to or not.
