Passed my test in May 1964, apart from a 'Failure to accord precedence'. fine £5.00 and endorsement, Highgate Magistrate Court Apl 1965, have not fallen foul of plod (in their many forms)since.

Are there any PH's out there with a similar record, 47yrs? or longer

About 20 yrs ago I was talking to a very elderly neighbour about driving. He told me when he was young and foolish he got fined, in 1915, for "Riding a motor bike without tissue paper over the headlight in a time of war."

Mind you I wasn't surprised, he always struck me as a wrong 'un.

There was a topic like this about the police stopping people speeding and how many had a criminal record

I think, not sure, it turned out around 30% of people over 40 have a criminal record of some kind.

Not a criminal record under the new system with prints, DNA swabs etc, but solely driving offences.

Went from bike to HGV3 in 69 which gave me a car licence, (so never took a test in a car), and an HGV1 conversion in 75.

Had a fine for £30 in 72, whilst driving a military Land Rover to a uxb, doing 40 in 30, copper wasnt interested in the uxb, apart from that, ziltch, not even a parking fine, so it can be done.

Nearly 30 years. Test at 17, IAM at 18, RoSPA at 19, Class 1.

Drive/ride 30K+ miles per annum.

No accidents, tickets, prosecution, etc.

I am no angel and think that a "time and place" have kept me out of trouble.

Nearly got done for allegedly jumping a red waaaay back in the late 60's. at the junction of Landsdowne road and Tottenham High Rd ( the junction where the shop with flats above was torched in last years riots)

I chanced over on amber....definite.... no arguments, and was flagged by a Bib just up from what was the Gas offices, later the Haringey Council Pest Dept ( as also seen on TV)
He informed me i had done the red. I said how could you be certain from 80yds away. He was then joined by his mate, who claimed he had seen me. As there was no sign of him when i crossed the junction,(if he had been visible i would have hit the brakes) i asked him where he was standing. He said around the corner. I asked how could he see the line from there?. After some humming and haaring, i got a bit umpty and asked 'Are you gonna nick me or what?; I think they realised the case was....flawed... and told me to bugger off. That was the only other time i ever came close to my second offence

Been driving around 8 years.

Got 3 points and £60 a year in for being a bit of a wally and letting myself get panicked into running a red right behind a police car. Definitely needed it to remind me of my relative youth and inexperience and have been a good boy since.

Though TBH I've been wondering about having a couple of lessons just to see what bad habits I've picked up in the last 8 years - I'm sure there are plenty!

Christ no, had enough points to go into the bonus round - mainly when younger and more daft.

Clean for around 3 years now though, which is a personal record. party

I passed my test in 2003 and managed 6 perfectly clean years.
Not done so well since then with an SP30, 4 parking tickets and having the car impounded for a parking violation. hehe

2 x 3 points, 1 x 5 points and one 'go straight to 3-month ban'. Handful of parking tickets over the years.

Clean licence for 6 years now though.

I've had a clean licence for 33 years, despite driving 40k miles a year for 20 of them.

I got caught once for no insurance and driving on a provisional (had a full bike licence) and once for crossing double whites, having overtaken a police car in my Reliant Robin. I learnt my lesson.

my license even had an extension bit of paper
