Evening all,

I have had a very nice chap contact me who is interested in purchasing the TVR Griffith currently for sale in Basildon. He is in Scotland but is unable to make it down next week and was wondering if I could look at the car on his behalf.

Those who know me will appreciate that I know very little about mechanics and although I would be more than happy to go and chat to a fellow TVR owner I don't think I would actually be able to offer a good assessment of the car.

This is the vehicle in question. Does anyone have any suggestions of anyone may be able to look at the car to inspect the overall condition, particularly the chassis, outriggers and engine. Leven would have been ideal but unfortunately they have shut up shop. Any suggestions? Or perhaps a mechanically minded owner wouldn't mind taking a look for some beer tokens?

This IMHO. If the seller is genuine about the condition and has nothing to hide and as long as his costs are covered (ie/ he thinks the prospective buyer is genuine) then I'm sure he wouldn't mind.
Alternatively ask the seller where the car has had its last few services and get in touch with the service centre for an honest opinion.
