Can anyone tell me what this is for, it appears above the tank and i think I can trace it back into the tunnel. The cable is an assymetric figure 8 section with the white two way connected to a single conductor from the small part of the figure eight. I was wondering whether it is for an auto changer or an aerial.

Thanks

Its a Pioneer IP Bus cable so you can plug in a CD Changer, IPod Adapter, DAB Module etc

Glad you asked this GT6 I have the same, now I know Lol.
I currently plug my iPod into the earphone socket on my unit through a adaptor lead, if I used this old lead would the sound be better quality ?

Yes - you need the Pioneer CD-IB100 module - loads on ebay. This will allow you to control the Ipod from the head unit plus give you track info etc.

The unit needs 12v power - don't take it from the boot light switch as I did as once the boot light is on there is not enough power to the module smile doh!

Thanks for the replies, I was actually hoping there was an aerial lead in there as the problem I am trying to solve is poor radio reception so I'm trying to find where that appears. Does anyone know waht the aerial lead should look like or where it normally emerges ? I belive from other posts that it shoulkd be connected to the rear window demister element.

I ran a good quality aerial lead directly from the radio to the new aerial amplifier which is mounted very close to the aerial itself.

You could pickup a Pioneer GEX-P900DAB which connects to the IP Bus, this would give you DAB and excellent FM reception but you will need to mount the ariel

I know its not a Chimaera.........but I spent hours searching the boot for my Chimaera's aerial when I had just hiss, no stations, on a brand new (and also the old) radio. Took everything to pieces in the boot, took out the CD autochanger (yes, that IS an auto-changer lead) and failed to find it..........posted on Pistoffheads just to be told that the aerial element runs around the windscreen. I merely had a bad contact between aerial lead and radio, so if you actually have an aerial lead at the back of the head unit I suggest you try a bit of heavy waggling with the head unit out of the dash.

On my 1997 Cerbera I believe it's included in with the dash loom somewhere.

For FM, I tried all sorts but ended up with running a powered FM aerial with booster, the type thats designed to stick to a windscreen,

but I stuck it underneath the boot lip, above the tank. The wires ran back down under the central tunnel/console. That worked much better than standard but still wasn't great.

I finally bit the bullet and added the DAB unit to my JVC head and fitted the JVC Hal 4 aerial on the rear window, top centre. It's a glass mount aerial which you stick the aerial to the outside and an inner plate with the wire to the inside. I hid the wires around the trim. This works brilliantly.

Nope, Pioneer only, and only units that have a P as the leading digit of the model number - i.e DEH-P88RS
