Hello,

I've found the engine number on the front of the block under cylinder 3, which reads ahu then 4 numbers, then corrosion! The question is how many digits should it have as I want to change the v5 to suit the new engine!

Thanks.

Same as the engine that's already on the v5?

Usually 6 digits, occasionally 7 after the engine code.

Have you looked on the top of the cambelt plastic cover? I assume so otherwise you wouldn't be looking at the block, but there should be a barcoded sticker on the cambelt cover that has the engine number on it too.

Something from a Skoda site. Skoda put a sticker on the bootlid ,under the carpet listing the specs of the car. It lists codes for all stuff-in the car, and engine code ,which is VAG specific.

Most of the VAG engines are engine code, i.e 3 letters, and 4 digits. I know mine is. smile

Have you changed your engine? Or are you having trouble identifying the engine code?

What car, year, engine size, petrol or diesel?
