Hope you all had a good weekend folks....

I have been mostly hooning around the south coast - West Wittering, Chichester, Petersfield, Winchester. ( A272 - hurray for that road ).

Now for the post reason..... about half way through the day I lost the rev counter - not literally - it was still there, but it was registering between 1-2K ( not the 3.5-5K that I was obviously doing.

After a quick swim in the sea - I restarted and the counter was back to normal.... anyone seen this??

Also - let my friend drive for about an hour - I think we have another future Elise owner ( converted from brand new A3 TDi - so it wasn't that hard! ).....

I had a similar problem with my rev counter, it would cut out mid journey, and switching the ignition off and back on would sometimes -- but not always -- fix it.

The Lotus factory had a look at it and wanted £600 for a new STACK, but determined not to have to pay that much, I took the instrument binnacle off, pulled the connections off the back off the stack, sprayed them with electrical contact cleaner and put everything back together. It's been fine for three years since!

See you at Pie on the Beach then?

Should be a good little drive starting from Basingstoke and ending up at Hayling Island for a meeting with lots of PHers for lunch, chat, swim, pitch and putt competition plus other stuff.

All info will be posted here as it is finalised:

I forgot to say, removing the binnacle is easy with the right tools (a ratchet screwdriver with variety of heads and a ratchet socket set with extension bar), but be careful not to damage the wire for your high quality trip counter reset button whilst removing the plastic shrould round the steering column (you need to do this to access the large bolts holding the binnacle on). Mine came off and I had to resolder it (easy job, but hassle).

Your too late for that!
Cuzza and I went for an evenings blast along the A272 and my passenger nearly throough-up whilst I tried to keep up with him through the twisties!

By the time we got to the pub we were meeting at he was already half-way through his starter!

Poor Ali - what's the saying?? Blue and green should never be seen?

Got a lesson in uphill overtaking on the way home though - most impressive
