Is the OPC service stamp worth the cost hike over an indy ?
Discussion
As per the title, i have a 2007 cayman S with 60k on the clock, no warranty..
Just wondering if the OPC stamp for my imminent service is really going to keep resale value higher in a few years?
I'm not planning on selling any time soon as I love it to bits but come the day I do decide to part with it will i regret going to an Indy if i try to save a few hundred quid per service for the next few years?

From my research it makes a 10% difference in resale price, so whether or not you go for Indy or OPC is a function of the number of services you are going to keep it for and the eventual sale price. Note that an Indy service will invalidate any OPC warranty.
However having sold several cars with full dealer service history that were around the five year mark, it seemed to make no difference in price but was a good selling point! Also permitted you to put on a manufacturer warranty which also helps the sale.
If the Indy is a well recognised one, this can add a premium. This happened with my evo 8 that Had been upgraded/fettled by one of the two top specialists in the uk at the time. It made it better than the equivalent evo 8 FQ so it sold for more -and nearer my asking price.

I just had a minor service and brake fluid change on a 2006 Cayman S (which I presume is what you require at 60k miles) done for £475 at my local OPC.
I thought it was worth doing as it means that if I choose to sell in the next 24 months I have the "FPSH" abbreviation that many buyers will be looking for.

If the Indie has a good name as a recognised Porsche Specialist I'd say it's as good if not better on the older cars.
I have the choice of Newcastle OPC or Redline racing current Carrera Cup GB champs as my closest "garages".
On that count it's a no brainer....Redline every single time.

Like others on here have said, at sub 5 years old it's pretty important as I wouldn't buy a car of this age without it, but post 5 years, I suppose it matters less.
In terms of quality - the indie's I've used only employ ex-OPC technicians - so there isn't much difference - except in the labour rate!

OPCs have dropped the menu prices for Minor and Major services on cars older than 6 years old. For my 2004 Boxster (going in tomorrow) this has made them competitive with my local indies - plus I get to play with a 981 S PDK.
As suggested, while it might not add to the actual sale price, a full OPC service history might make the car easier to sell.
Chris.

This ^I use Fearnsport for my car even though Towcester OPC is right around the corner. Price is about the same on a 996, but I'd rather have Fearnsport look after it. But on a car under 5 years old a full OPC history is probably preferable for resale value as most buyers simply wouldn't relate to anything else.
