Hi all,
Just a quick question. I've recently got a Mk1 and noticed that at speed (60/70ish) the bonnet lifts about 1cm at the front corner - at least on the drivers side. Is this normal? I'm paranoid the things going to fly up.
When stationary it is firmly fixed in the middle but I can lift it the cm by hand at the front corner?
Thanks for your help

Mine lifts a little but along both sides if you see what I mean.

How flush are your headlight covers and are the black plastic trims still on the front edge of the bonnet behind the lights.

Our old track car does it all the time. It's not really something to worry about but it will be ruining the aerodynamics. Never quite worked out how to stop it on ours.

Ive never had this issue on mine but on other cars you can adjust the catch by dropping the mech a bit on the bolts , or in the old spring ones screwing it in to the bonnet.

The bonnet catch and mechanism on the MX5 appear to be fixed in place with no adjustment. You might be able to adjust the bonnet stops on the front corners which might help.

I had a quick look today before it rained and before I had chance to read any replies on here, it's not perfect there's a bit of a gap. I'll have to have another look for the black trims, didn't notice them - I'll have to search for a pic of what they should look like. I think the car has had a knock at the o/s front, there's a crack in the corner of the sidelight/indicator and a mark on the bumper so maybe the bonnet has been pushed up a bit?

thanks, that puts my mind at ease a little, I'm assuming you're going faster than 70! At least the engine won't overheat.
