Heads up, because I was unaware until yesterday, but the torch relay ends in Bracknell about 5.30 today, then restarts in Reading at Palmer Park at about 6.15.

Between the two, it will evidently be in a large police convoy, including a rolling roadblock the length of the A329m. Which could make the evening commute even more tedious than usual.

Grumble grumble...

Think it's today and Wednesday - is doing Bracknell, then Palmer Park to Oracle tonight. Then there's some kind of 'evening celebration' (?) at the Madejski tonight for it, then a couple more legs tomorrow in Reading - one North to South, then another from the centre along the A4, before disappearing in the vague direction of Newbury.

Are the sponsors paying for the policing of this? Afterall, it's just an oversized rolling advert banghead

It started off in Oxford today and I think it somewhere around Slough/Windsor at the moment. It will then proceed to Egham, Ascot, Bracknell and ending up in Reading this evening.

I'm working in Bracknell and traffic around Skimped Hill (part of the route) is already getting busy - Road closures are expected soon. Got a decent view from the office window if I decide to hang about!

It'll be out of the way then. Tomorrow is Reading-Newbury-Winchester-Southampton-Salisbury or something.

i was very dubious about the whole torch relay, hut i really enjoyed it today in Egham. I was policing it and it received loads of good feedback from the public, everyone had a brilliant time even though it chucked it down.

was glad to be a part of it to be honest.

It came through Henley earlier, about 9ish but the powers that be decided to shut Henley bridge from 6am till 11 for some unknown reason. Bloody chaos and added 40 mins to my commute frown

Can't help but feel there is a touch of the emperors new clothes about the whole thing. I know a few people who went to watch it pass through Ascot and Bracknell, from their pictures on Facebook it looked more like a marketing event for Samsung and Coke!

I didn't know anything about this until I rode through Cemetary Junction on the way home today. Was a bit surprised to find the street lined with people!

Wish I'd known as I'd have hated to get caught behind the bloody parade. Load of bks if you ask me :grump:
