Car was IVA'd yesterday and passed
Some people had given "horror" stories of how hard it is to get LS7s through, emissions are hard, noise is virtually impossible.. I'm pleased to say, if you know what you're doing, and obviously do it right, it's absolutely no problem whatsoever. Had the car mapped before IVA, a very nice exhaust made and it breezed through emissions and noise - 96db! Perhaps a little too quiet, but is easier to make it noisy than make it quiet. That's with 2" primarys - no restrictions either
:

Very docile, only problems we've had were a faulty regulator, replaced that and all is fine.
Now I just need to get it registered...
Thanks to the factory for all my queries and for producing the kit, massive thanks to the 3 Steves:
Steve at AB for always having time to chat and for helping out with last minute custom parts (thanks to Jason too)
Steve Mr Sparky for helping with the electrics, sort out a few gremlins, deal with my changes of direction and make sure all is good
And a huge thanks to Mr SS for all his guidance, patience and skills to help make an absolutely superb car that is pretty much exactly the vision I had 5 years ago when I first started the build.

Well done for passing the IVA. Was the front splitter an issue at all? Also from the pictures you posted it looks as if you have a non factory wing mirror, unless I am mistaken? Was this an issue at all? Any more details much appreciated.
And the big question ....why do builders stray from the proven design and create so many headaches for themselves, especially with the exhaust system? I understand post registration, but surely go with the Factory proven setup and then afterwards you can get the upgrade addiction which is half the fun during the life of owning such a car. Not a Ultima owner or builder myself, but would like to be one day. Any useful advice much appreciated.
Jim.

Being able to do what you want is the beauty of them isn't it? If you want an easy build, the factory sell everything you need, if you have a different vision, then you can do what you like, only limit is the depth of your pockets
Re your question on the exhaust - fully compliant, bigger primaries, stainless, arguably less restrictive, easily repackable and less cost than factory mild steel one. If you do it right you can make a nice alternative to the factory one, if you really want. If you do it wrong you have problems with noise and packaging.
The mirrors were designed to improve visibility over standard, which they do exceptionally well - as long as the radius are ok then they won't cause a problem.
