The foil, heat shield/protector on bulk head......

in the engine bay is looking absolutely rank. It was actually like it when I bought my Noble last December from C N.

I have seen Nobles without them, does anybody know if this is essential?

I have been quoted £115 plus vat for a new slimmer one.

Also been told its a git of a job to get the old one out properly????

Any help would be great.

Mines is wet through with water even although the car is garaged.

Its stuck on with somee sort of silicone and its a pig of a job to get off, I ended up using a desolver to get it off.

Normal desolver all the sheds sell it, B%Q etc with the bath sealer, it's a pig of a job, it took most of a day to do but th epaint was undamaged, I made a carbon fibre one to replace it.

I paid £58 for a replacement from Noble last year, but haven't got around to changing it yet.

I think I'll take a look at this product also.

I've also questioned its importance as mine looks pretty second hand now. I'd rather not replace it with anything but don't want any more heat in the cabin!

I took mine off and never replaced it, no significant noise or heat comes from here, i tried both ways and it made no difference that i could see, the noise can more easily pass through the clam and glass(but heat may be sorted due to the fact underhood temps have been greatly reduced)
..i wont go into detail, but most noise comes from the sills and tunnel, most heat came from the tunnel, alot of other cabin noise came from the doors and floor pan, i concentrated a lot on a more quality feel from inside the cabin, so this is one area i know a lot about from experience and many hours of experimentation.

The glue is horrible to remove, i used thinners and it desolved quickly, the easiest way to tidy it up is putting new aluminmium glass coth over the top and tidying up the edges using aluminium tape.

thanks for your posts. There is a local garage to me that reckon they can get it off. Not sure if they know what they are dealing with but they have seen it.

Hi

I bought a sheet from http://www.thermalvelocity.co.uk/Heat-Shields/Acou...

and have roughly 800 x 740 left which is enough for two more although you do have a joint in the middle. Finished off with tape from the same people and then some silicone to seal the edges of that.



If anybody wants some of what's left drop me a line.The same stuff is used in various other locations on the car.

PS On my car the original was soaking wet and the paint on the bulkhead had bubbled off badly so leaving bare was definitely not an option. A razor blade also helps to get rid of the old gunk.

Thanks for the link Rob - perfect. I might order a bulk lot and get around to sorting out the intercooler bay and a few other things. This is of course the person who's been "getting around" to fixing my condensation in the lights for the last 7 years....

Not sure I would use the acoustic type around the intercooler (it's a bit bulky and you really need to seal the edges to keep water out of the fibre section if it's exposed -intercooler area may be warm enough to keep it dry!) but there's plenty of other options on that site.

Offer is still open if you just want enough for the bulkhead.

I was looking at the thinner stuff on the other parts - it's a fascinating site what they do - I particularly like their split pipe wrap as I've just had to redo a bit of wiring because it had slowly melted, but all I could find is the split black plastic tube which is OK for general protection, but won't do that much about heat.

If Dacone doesn't want it then I'd be delighted if you could send that over and I'll give you a suitable recompense.

Pretty sure ther's enough for two but if you (or somebody) can measure width and height required as my car is away at the moment i can check again.
