I am about to have the first service (2 years) done on my 2010 997 Carrera S, this is my first Porsche so I dont really know the score. Porsche service are saying that the air-con needs servicing at 2 years at a cost of £199. This seems a bit excessive both in terms of cost and need for an air-con service at this stage. I dont mind paying for it if it is required but I wonder if I am being "upsold".
Does anyone have any experience of this?
thanks

I would ask what 'servicing' means. What do they check and/or replace? Could be a pollen filter? I guess that will account for 200 quid at porsche dealer prices
I can't think what else is 'servicable' in air-con. Pressure check for re-gass topup maybe?
I'm surprised there isn't an annual service. Not familiar with modern standards, but 2 year old engine oil in a high performance car doesn't sound appealing to me.

Is your air con cold and working fine, if so it doesn't need re-gassed. There could be other service items related to the air conditioning like checking the drive belts for wear etc. but I would expect anything that needed to be replaced to be under warranty. If it is a re-gas say you don't need it but find out what they are planning to do. MX5 dealer claimed it needed done every year on my dad’s mx5 when it was all fine.

Servicing on modern expensive cars, shouldn't be the wait til its broke and then fix it approach. I don't know of the truth, but there are various statements suggesting that on average most vehicles lose up to 15 percent per annum. If thats true, then it could be considered reasonable to check the system every couple of years to keep it topped-up and working at full effectiveness.Personally - I'd save my money and wait til it breaks, but then I don't a newish porsche...
