I believe its the same engine as what we have, my dad has a Jaguar garage and as soon as he saw the engine in the noble he stated that they use the same in some of the Jaguars.
I wonder if the plenum off a jaguar is a suitable replacment, and dont you think it sounds better when we say our cars have a Jaguar engine rather than ford smile..even though of course the Jaguar engine is also a ford ..lol.

How much work is require to get one of these up to stock M400 spec, with cams, pistons, rods and headwork etc? and how much would it cost?
I like the idea of having a new engine/transmission all ready to drop in and keep stock one as a spare.

Dont the Jag heads flow better and enable the engine to Rev higher? I heard 9,000rpm but might be wrong....

Chris.

Sounds like a fair deal.. Anyone had experience with these and know what needs changing to fit?

The only parts any good to you are the block & crank, sump is different & although the heads would seem to be ideal the mounting point is different because the water pump & power steering pump are located different which means completely redesigning the big engine mount on the drivers side etc etc.

Redesigning the engine mount is easily doable..hmm..if thats the main problem in order to keep the head then i'm interested..

that etc..etc,, bit at the end Steve, i assume there will be lots of smaller hurdles to overcome?..
So we are saying this head will flow much better than our present ones?
Does that mean you could create more bhp at higher rpm whilst keeping the torque capped?..in your opinion is it worth it for the potential benefits or a waste of time?

I have actually never seen one, i wonder if i can find a pic to see what the plenum looks like.

I echo the comments from above, engine mount is not trouble but I'm sure there's more to it than than. What about our existing exhausts would they bolt up to the head does this require new manifolds, etc?

I'm trying to help based on actual experience as l have already bought one of those engines & done the exercise, l put etc etc meaning lots of things different (the bracket is the minor detail however not so simple as may sound) & developing the heads to improve over the current high power flowed heads is going to be expensive & at the end of the day possibly gain another 1000rpm with less torque.
Developing another engine is a very expensive business, however should anyone wish to buy a new set of AJ heads & cams i'll be delighted to sell you.

Steve, simple really l needed a new block & it was the cheapest way. The block requires some alterations though as the water connections are in different locations, then you've got the oil squirters to machine etc.
Was excited at the thought of developing the heads but Martin who has built my engine thinks the problems associated outweigh the potential gain.
Not dead but shelved at the moment.
