Hey guys,

After fitting a new CD player in my car I now have a rather old head unit (possibly 8 years old if it came with the car). I also have an old sony one kicking about the garage. Does anyone know of any where I could get rid of these I guess the demand for old CD players is quite low as new ones are so cheap. I don’t really want to chuck them on ebay as they would cost a fair bit to ship.

Any ideas?

As you said, demand is low. I'd take it to the tip for recycling, but if its a top end one, you might, as previously suggested, take it to a Car Boot. Guess charity shops might be interested too...

how decent an area do you leave in? i put a load of unwanted great stuff(i.e cack) on a table in my front yard, with a sign asking people to knock if they wanted to buy anything. it worked. if you live in the bronx though, avoid doing it.

People only like classic ones for restoring some kinds of car - i.e. ones which may have had an early CD-player in the first place.

If they're not from classic cars, just whack them on Ebay.

After all, you're not paying the postage costs...the buyer is.

What models are you talking about... some of the high end Kenwood and Alpine units from 8 - 10 years ago still command proper money on e-bay, certainly well worth the time to advertise.
Postage isn't that much, the last unit I sent was 8.95 I think.

Fair enough will hunt through eBay. One is a Kenwood from pur 04 MG and the other is a Sony unit from our old Tuscan.

Depends if somebody wants to keep their car original, and their stereo is broke.
I wanted a CD changer for a Jaguar XJ a few months back, and they still fetch decent money on e-bay.
Its definately worth putting them on the bay. You have got nothing to lose..

eBay with your postage cost covered and 99p start. You might make a couple of quid but it won't cost you to post it.
