Paris trip, roads to take and over stay?

Evening folks!

Well me and this misses are going to Paris in 3 weeks for a long weekend!

1# So looking at a better route to take, going via the tunnel.

2# Looking for a random overnight stay on the way back to the UK, so maybe on the boarder of Belguim?

Looking for advice/experiences

I go via Reims and visit the old GP circuit, and stay in/near Epernay on the way back for some Champagne shopping.

Thanks, I want to try and move north if I can. Belguim looks fairly close to visit. But would be happy with France anywhere on the way back to the UK.

Wanting to use some county roads to!
