Donington 2004
Discussion
Hi folks
Have got the details for anyone wanting to go to the National Kit & Performance Car Show at Donington Park 4th and 5th September 2004.
The Jago Owners Club has a 6 vehicle stand booked for both days (but usually if previous shows are anything to go by there is often more room to put extra vehicles).
The show is from 9.30am to 5.30pm both days.
Being a Limelight show they charge kit car drivers £2 to enter the event and passengers have to pay £8.
If you have booked to go on the full track day (which is on the Saturday this year) then entry to the show is free.
When you arrive apart from being relieved of some of your cash you will be directed to the allocated area for club displays (they have changed where the club stands are this year to near the wooded area).
As with any show they request that clubs keep the area tidy and litter free.
OK should you wish to take your car on the track here is the info.
You can pre book by ringing Limelight on 01737 225857. This will cost £185 inc VAT for all day. Extra Driver cost £30 and any passengers are £20 each.
You can also pre book 20 minute sessions which cost £35 inc VAT with passengers costing £5.
The circuit is about 2.7 miles long.
The track times are 9am to 5pm.
Should you let your vehicle run out of fuel on the track they will fine you £50.
Cars naturally should be fully road legal and anyone in the vehicle will have to wear a crash helmet.(Take your own as in previous years they have stopped supplying ones at the track).
The minimum age to go on the track as a passenger is 16 years of age.
The vehicles noise level will be checked and will not be allowed on the track if it registers above 98 decibels.
The first noise tests and track briefing will take place at 8.45am.
They have not indicated if there will be "on the day" slots available as in previous years so if you want to go on the track it is probably wise to pre book just in case.

According to Limelights site www.limelight-exhibitions.co.uk/f_events_list.htm it costs £3 per night to camp and there is meant to be showers and toilets.

Hi Logibear
What e-mail address did you try?
My old one techsec@jagoowners.freeserve.co.uk is no longer used as I fell out with the service provider when I wanted to upgrade my network so I changed to my current one which is jagotechsec@yahoo.co.uk
I did post this info on both of the Jago forums but naturally if you are new to Jago Ownership and have not visited the Technical web site www.joctechnical.org.uk or either of the forums and checked the listings (which I am sure not many people do) you would not know.
Welcome to being a Jago Owner hopefully you will have many happy years of fun driving your Geep.

SO SO SO SO SO GUTTED!!! I was planning on attending donington this year but today whilst coming home from the coast i noticed a problem with the jeep! got it home and got up on jacks to check it out and it seems one of the rubber bushes on the drivers side track control arm has perished away to nothing giving it play!! its ok in a straight line but when turning left it gives a terrible shake on the wheels!! ive been to order the part but they wont have one in stock untill monday morning! and i dont really want to drive it all the way to donington, i did to newark earlier in the year wen the same rubber went on the other side!! i guess thats what happens wen u buy a jeep that hasnt been used in about 6years and then start using it everyday!! So who is going then?? i might drive over in the (normal, boring) family car just to show my face and have a look about!!

Shame the event wasn't better organised (and supported).
We hired a T@y@t@ Previa (diesel but not turbo- shame) and went down to Bradford-on-Avon near Bath where daughter and friends were attending the Eton Hunt ball doncherknow. They stayed at the Bath YHA and we stayed in a B-o-A pub. Sunk a few ales and had a good time. What great weather...
Cheers

There's still more flak coming in on the Sylva chat group. The pricing seems out of line with other shows as well. £10 entry, even £25 for a family ticket seems a bit much. I'm sure the track day rip-off price (£170???) must pay for the whole event and presumably the manufs have to pay for their stands. It's a shame because I like the area and it is usually still summer. The Exeter Show is always a bit suspect on that front.
However, don't forget the Abingdon 4x4 Festival on Saturday 25 September and the All-Ford Rally on Sunday 26 September. Overnight camping available- it's at the Dalton Barracks airfield at the junction of the A34 and A415 just south of Oxford.
Cheers
