Would like to upgrade the old stereo / 6 disk CD unit and speakers, all are currently Panasonic units. All I would like to do is just swap out the units especially the speakers as I dont want to have to hack the doors around, any suggestions ?

Been tried and tested by many, wont sound any better.... maybe clearer, but the punch just doesnt exist..... some get a sub custom built into the cabin hole between the rear seats, and some get one custom built for the passengers footwell.... money, money, money.... oh bugger it, spend the same cash and get a maxed up golf with all the kit pre-installed... so you got a ride when you need some music.... heehee..

Have to agree with some of that, not sure about the golf though!

If you have a kit properly installed then they have the worry about making sure it looks just right.

My cerbie had a superb install, an alpine amp bolted into a custom enclosure on the boot floor, a cerwin vega sub in the cubby hole, CDT focals in the rear and boston acoustic component speakers in the front. All superbly installed and it looked top notch.

You need a good install if you want to appreciate any sounds other than the exhaust...

Cheers
