Got to do 2 x 45 mins for a job with a big corporate. I did a verbal reasoning test one and thought 'Yes, I can read and understand English' For a senior role why do they think I can't read??!!
The other is a numerical one to see if I can add things together. Perhaps they'll add algebra and trigonometry too!

There's a company based in Norwich who have been trying to fill a position for almost 1 year now.
As part of their application process there is an online competency test. It consists of 4 sections, each section lasting about 15-20mins. There's a section all about next in the sequence (of strange shapes/designs/symbols), a section about verbal reasoning & English language (similies etc), a general knowledge section and a maths section. It's a US parent company, so the maths section contains quite a few questions involving gallons, feet, inches and yards.
IF you pass muster at this stage, (which is actually stage 2 because you have already had a phone interview with HR) then your interview at their office begins with another online competency test - a trimmed-down version of the one you took previously.
Apparently they don't get that many people attaining a suitable pass mark across the whole test - so not that many get to be invited to the office/face-to-face interviews (2 rounds).
This is all for a "Head of..." position which advertises 10 years experience (or something like that). One year on and they're still advertising. Needless to say they don't get the best of attention from agencies any more.

Funnily enough chatting to a friend last night who has just passed these tests & has his "Face to face" interview today! It as head of maintenance for a large food manufacturer & involves a few depots. Its not a bad salary & a few perks, private health care for you & spouse,car etc.
Really hope he is successful as he has had a few health problems, 3 triple bypass ops & diabetic could easily take the easy route & stay at home but he's a fighter & good luck to him!
