Love the smoked/tinted headlamp look to put on my elise. Is it legal?

Its legal - as long as you retain the red reflectors in the lights or add additional ones (easily bought at halfords etc in various sizes)

Don't need to go mad with the sparay can either. One light coat at a time. Done properly, can enhance the rear - done badly, you'll look a chav and get a tug by plod perhaps...

It's a failure under the new MOT regs apparently.

"Products on the lens or light source that obviously reduce the light’s intensity or change its colour will become a reason for failure – applies to front/rear position lamps, registration plate lamps, stop lamps, rear fog and direction indicators"

How much they reduce the intensity and whether it's noticeable is up for debate.

They supply a spray to remove it come MOT time, more worried about getting pulled by the police to be honest.

Unless you take the complete piss with it and spray it on so thick that your lights become a faint glow, you'll be left alone by the police. The gto is the level you would get away with in my experience.

Be a real chav and stretch a pair of your mums tight over them instead though, always get a giggle when I see someone do that smile

am seriously thinking about tinting mine too

I think I should be able to get away with a light tint as the cars not exactly standard anyway.
BTW the Elise looks sooooo much better with the tint!

nice colour too wink
