I've got an Alpine CDE-9870RM CD receiver in my Noble. When I bought the car the remote was missing and I was persuaded by someone on here to buy an Alpine RUE-4202 remote which they were adamant would work with the unit - it doesn't! Or at least, I can't get it to work.

I'm now wondering......is there a remote control with this unit - do others have one please? And if so, which remote is it that synchronises with this unit? I need to be able to turn the volume up without performing the act of a contortionist at high speed!

Maybe a silly question but don't you have the controls on the stalk on the steering column?

It's a very good question! But for some reason no!

Manual is available at
http://www.alpine.uk.com/fileadmin/user_upload/man...

Doesn't say anything about a remote control I'm afraid. It is has remote control interface box, but that's to plug into an OEM steering wheel/computer control system in cars like Fords/BMW etc.

I'm certain you'd find the stalk controls somewhere relatively cheap and this is a much better solution than the hand-held remote control

Because the control from the wheel is a Sony stalk and doesn't work with other makes

Really? It's not an open standard they all adhere to?

Well certainly the remote I bought doesn't connect with the head unit, despite a number of people on here reassuring me that it would because it had a universal protocol!

There is no remote in, nor any mention of it in the manual as I say, so safe to assume it doesn't actaully support one I would have thought?

Yes I believe so, it will work on most Sony stereo's as I brought a modern one which links with Iphone and stores number and does hands free, it enabled me to keep the steering control
