Another Welsh Road Trip.. Advice Needed Again Please
Discussion
I'm planning a trip to Wales next month. Will be coming from S.E London, staying in Cardiff overnight and heading up the A4069 early on the Sunday Morning.
It's after the A4069 where I would be grateful of some advice really. I would rather not head too far north as I would need to be back in London for 6/7pm so my original plan of doing the EVO Triangle is out.
Can anyone help out on suggesting a fun Eastbound route back home before picking up the M4 at some point?
Alternatively would I be best doing the A4069 and turning around and doing it again but Southbound?
Cheers

After the A4069 >> Llandovery
Up, as already said, the A483 to Beulah
Left on B4358 >> Newbridge on Wye
Left on to A470 >> Rhayader/Cwmdeuddwr
Straight up on to the dams road (stop at the vistor's centre [pay for parking] and admire Caban Coch from the botton) Grab a welsh tea inc. cuppa and Bara Brith
At the second (submerged) dam - Garreg Ddu you can carry straight on or left over the bridge to the Claerwen (it's a one way system but a good ride and back)
Just follow up
Depending upon time at the end where there's the iron bridge and the uphill hairpins turn left (if you're not time constrained) and go west to the border with Ceredigion. About turn - come back and continue back to Rhayader.
Return south across the A470 >> Llanelwedd (roundabout by Royal Welsh Showground - Toyota dealership to right)
Straight over (do not turn right for Builth) on A483 for less than 1 mile.
Turn RIGHT on to A481 at bottom of hill on left bend for, initially, Hundred House & New Radnor.
Less than approaching another bend 1mile on turn RIGHT on to B4567 >> Aberedw and on for Erwood Station Craft Centre. After there turn RIGHT on to unnumbered white road.

turn RIGHT here to cross the Wye using the narrow Llanstephan bridge (weight limit 2tonne)
After bridge LEFT on to A470 >> Llyswen
RIGHT for Brecon -it's still A470
At crossroads, again, RIGHT on to A470
Stay til big roundabout on edge of Brecon
Turn LEFT on to A40 as if for Abergavenny
Go to BWLCH
Downhill after tight right - on left bend is a straighht on turn right for LLANGYNIDR
B4560
Another narrow bridge which will make the Llanstephan bridge look wide
Thru Llangynidr
Left on to B4558 - enter NSL and watch for sign for Beaufort 5 miles(sign on left)
Turn right back onto B4560 - enjoy (i prefer this to the A4069) and it's short enough to do a few times.
After you've played turn down here
https://maps.google.co.uk/?ll=51.841896,-3.2179&am...
for Llangattock and Crickhowell.
Stay on the upper road until you get to Llangattock.
Left to A4077. (either right or left depending if you want fuel - SHELL garage in Crick. if you like your V Power in which case...)
Left on to A4077 and follow right over bridge. in to Crick.
>> A40 where SHELL is.
Right thru Crick on A40 >> Abergavenny
Pass Hospital on right. If you prefer BP then there's a BP garage further on from the hospital.
At small roundabout RIGHT on to A4143 (Union Road)
>> to another roundabout >> straight/right for LLANFOIST
And again Left/straight for Llanfoist under the A465
Stay on B4246
BUT
https://maps.google.co.uk/?ll=51.817171,-3.04538&a...
at the split turn LEFT and go over the mountain toward Blaenavon.
Not sure what to suggest to return to Cardiff but maybe -
>> Pontypool >> A472 across to Usk
Usk - Newport on B road (unnumbered) via Llangybi & Caerleon
Join the M4 - do the tunnels (again)
