Well the time has come to start looking at a new TV. Looking at some of threads knocking about it seems that all is not entirely clear and well with LED displays and there's all sorts of talk about the next gen ones having the "issues" ironed out but being a lot more expensive.

So I'm going to be sticking wth Plasma. Thing is, itsa choice between two Panasonics.

The TX-P55VT50B and the TX-P50GT50B

Yes, ones like £2.5k the other £1400, after a brief chat with SWMBO, she said "well if you get the 50" and then end up unhappy with it we'll end up buying twice" she had a point put I was stunned at the bigger display coming at a bag a sand more.

Further investigation shows there's no TX-P55GT50 (grrr!) so for the 55 you have to go for the VT.

I was wondering if anyone new of any good 55" Plasma 2012 models that are as good as the Panasonics? Or any one who's gone from 50 - 55 and their experiences.

Viewing distance is max 17 ft

Cheers,

Have a look at the Panasonic TX-P55VT30. It's last years model, not much difference and should be a fair bit cheaper.

Argos have it at £1,499! Just check it's new, not refurbished or ex display!

Cheers Toxic,

After giving it some thought and looking around I've seen a few units that are sub 2k. So I think I'd rather go for the 55" VT50 and use it as platform for going 3D (Will need to update amp Pioneer LX-75 and a decent 3D Blueray Oppo? depends).

Thanks for sharing your thoughts against the Samsung though smile
