Best Value Cars BHP per £
Discussion
This is pointless, it's just cheapest car wins, even if you use bhp/ton instead of bhp.
Take the MR2 suggested above which is a relatively good shout for a cheap, powerful car. BIN on ebay for £1100, tuned to 280bhp, weighs 1.1 tonnes. 280/1.1/1100 = 0.19 bhp/ton per pound.
Then take the cheapest BIN car on ebay, a Renault Megane RTE 1.6e. £180, 90bhp, 1.055 tons. That gives you 0.47 bhp/ton per pound. Two times better 'value' than a tuned MR2 turbo.
ETA: used Parkers for my figures and yes, I'm bored.

Although some people are attempting to ruin the thread.
Toyota Soarer twin turbo - £1300 - 276 bhp - 0.21 hp/£
Sold to mate for "950" (although by way of "mates" finance agreement getting him out of a pickle then him taking time to pay it actually cost him 1070).
so he got an even better deal (even if it did then have more problems in his 3 months of ownership than my previous ~34.
Why don't we restrict it to "performance" and "decent" cars that are actually worth discussing the metric of - as opposed to free s
tters that are definitely great value for mobility but... barge-sheds / ebay wins ftw
