For some time now I have been noticing more and more trucks with a row of (usually neon blue) lights across the dashboard. I seem to recall somone mentioning that the reason for them is a safety device to draw oncoming driver's eyes away from the headlight area. Whilst this makes a little sense I was hoping for clarification from someone in the know.

And from what I can see they also appear to have a little protective bubble that allows them to use their mobile phones whilst driving a 38 tonne projectile

Gone are the days of 'professional drivers' sad to say...
