390SE left to rot!

I believe ALL wedges are worthy of saving unless they are badly written off, Then they are spares..If i had the space i would have it..If the engine and gearbox are ok then thats half the battle..Some of the interior might be salvagable..How bad is the chassis..Is the main centre section knackered?..The cost of restoration is always going to be more than its worth but then most of us spend more on them then they are worth anyway..As to what it is worth..Well there are no guidlines so the cheaper the better really..Wouldnt pay more than a grand for it though..Id start the ball rolling at 500-700 sobs..If you can do the work yourself then its a worthy cause...Ziga

Mark The engine and gearbox are the easy bit, if they were nackered that's not to much of a problem. It's the Chassis and the interior trim which is the thing to worry about!
With out having a closer look I would say it's worth restoring and a starting purchase price of £2K.
If my programe and Rose would allow I would go for it!
Andy
I firmly believe in this world of over sanitised, euro moulded blandness, that a wedge is a thing of beauty!
I'm probably biased as my formative years have memories of wedges in them, as well as big loud V8's
For those of you that are wondering about my formative years they were the1980's
I agree more with Andy's individual valuation and would probably offer somewhere just a little lower than 2K, the only concern I'd have with this, is when you view what's on fleabay at the moment without needing any work, or at least very little work carrying out on them as they stand!
Even more so now I've got my 350 and I know how much I paid for that and I thought that was in a bad way when I bought that.
It would be worth considerably more once all the work was carried out on it, but I suppose, as mentioned earlier, that it depends upon whether you can do the work yourself or not.
That and the fact that the SE model does look very nice would sway me towards this one.
If this isn't going to be saved and re-loved then it's a shame, but C'est La Vie
Andy,
Maybe you should have a wedge "pre-loved and enjoyed" (Ziga, leave the sexual innuendo out of it!) area as part of your harem of wedges?
Possibly even somewhere that rents out afore-mentioned wedges to schools and colleges for their apprentices to look at and understand a different set of engineering principles, rather than the standard sierra or golf cars that they seem to use, something with a chassis as opposed to a subframe, a hand finished interior as opposed to acres of plastic and a V8 rather than a 1.3 straight 4!
Ok, maybe fibreglass as opposed to sheet metal and aluminium would be a step too far, but imagine how much fun they'd have trying to work the electrics out
Kind of a way of spreading the message of wedgeness to those that don't know any better during their formative years
