I Posted this response in food and drink, but I thought this might make an amusing topic of its own.....

When I was about 16, I decided to go into training to improve my lager shotgunning capabilities. Due to a distinct lack of canned lager in the house on my chosen day, I decided to improvise using a can of Pepsi....

So, I punched a hole in the bottom, popped the ring pull, straightened my neck and downed it in one.

Down it went in 2 or 3 seconds.

No sooner had I swallowed it than I started to inflate a very worrying pace. My stomach was like a fking balloon and growing very rapidly. I couldn't burp the gas out fast enough and honestly thought I was going to explode like Dr Kananga's henchman who blew up in Live and Let Die.

Finally, after 2 or 3 minutes of terrifying expansion, and with an earth-shattering belch followed by a very brown and fizzy sick, I managed to expel the hyper-gassed Pepsi. It was at that point that I hung my shotgunning boots up and moved onto necking bottles with bendy straws.

I pass the baton on......

Question:
Can a 6 year old me persuade Dad to let me have some sweets just before dinner by telling him Mum didn't say no, she said to 'ask your father'.

Findings:
Yes, until Dad checks what Mum's initial answer was.

Conclusion:
1) Don't push your luck
2) Buy Dad a softer belt for Christmas
3) No sweet in the world is worth it

I once unplugged the power cable for my Yamaha keyboard then licked it to see if there was still electricity in it.

Yes. There was.

It hurt.

I once mixed everything I could find in the bathroom.

Everything!
Shampoo, soap, toothpaste, bleach, bubble bath, toilet cleaner etc etc

The resulting fumes were apparently ammonia and one sniff knocked me clean out. My mum thought I'd drunk it, Tsk as if I'm that stoopid, so called EVERYONE! hehe

Cigarette lighters in cars do not need testing. When red, they are hot to trot.

Take one tennis ball, slit with a knife and fill with petrol. Then take several matches and place them in the slit like a hedgehog. Light matches, then panic, and run from bushes...hide from father and neighbour for several hours. Get grounded for months and months and months hehe

Armed with the knowledge that eating too many sweets would make one fat, my six year-old brain logically concluded that eating/drinking sour things would make one thin.

In order to test this theory, I rounded up the local fat girl, locked her in my parents' shed and forced her to drink vinegar.

It didn't work.

Clearly, a long and illustrious career as torturer scientist awaited me.

Wouldn't the fumes ignite far before the matches ignite?

Can't remember exactly how old i was, I was young (Still in primary school). I was sitting in the kitchen watching my Grandma iron the clothes. I was amazed by how this odd item was able to make everything it touched silky smooth. I didn't care about HOW it made things silky smooth, That sort of thing was for thinkers and i was a DOER goddamnit. I got to thinking about what else could be improved by simply sliding this magical thing across it. What else has wrinkles and would look awesome without them? The answer, Quite clearly, Was the palm of my hand. Imagine the hilarity the next day in school when i get one of the kids to 'Read my palm' and BAM NO LINES, NO SWIMMING POOL... NO NOTHING!.

Eventually my Gran got up and went to get the next pile of washing, Now was my moment of triumph - I got up on my tiptoes and stretched as far up to the iron as i could, Pushing my entire hand against the hot plate.

I spent the next few weeks with my entire hand bandaged up, Being mercilessly ridiculed by everyone (Including the teachers!) for being a gigantic idiot.... and my hand still isn't silky smooth.

That is superb! The best I could ever manage was, after having done it loads of times on my bike, could you ride a peddle gokart down the cliffs? Answer yes, but the gokart can possibly (and did) fold around you (me)
