Just how many different shades of blue are there likely to be for interiors?

My door trims and the vinyl covered trim that runs underneath the fold down section of roof got mangled by a cat last year - I sucumbed and dropped TVR Glan a text to see if he had a couple of door trims and the roof edge trim in blue and he's replied that he has and with a price (which is a bit more than I'd like but a lot easier than getting mine recovered).

Anyway - I've asked him to supply a few photos but I'm wondering whether it's likely to be a difficult job getting a colour match with my existing blue dash... frown

Nice to see that the car breaking industry is doing well enough that you can just ignore people who want to spend money with you. biggrin

Asked a certain TVR breaker whether he had some blue door cards and a few other trim bits the other day which he replied back that he had and gave me a price ... asked for a couple of photos so I could at least check colour and condition and not heard anything more even though I've prompted him a couple of times.

Fantastic!

Mine is this colour

Cant recall the name off hand but can look it up.

Its all leather though inside, including the section round the back and seat sides and backs, but know this varies from car to car.

You could consider getting any colour trim and reclolouring, my seats (in the photo) were the same blue as the centre console which I recoloured to the grey.

That looks nice ... and close enough to my interior blue too I think.

OK - that'd be cool...

I think my seat facings are leather but everything else (I reckon) is vinyl. I know that the door trims and dash coverings are...

So was all of your centre console blue originally as well as the seats? I didn't know you could recolour to a completely different colour. Wow - that's rather impressive! How did you do that?

Hi Bassfiend

I recently removed my blue and cream door trims.
The trimmers at TVR had written on the card the colours…the blue is classified as Prussian blue.

Also on the inside of each trim item I found the last four digits of my chassis number, this was a great reassurance to me as another component of the overall provenance of my car. So personally I would not now re-trim from another car.

This has made up my mind that if needed I will get any item professionally re-trimmed so I can retain the original numbered cards and tunnel covers

Finally, what is it about cats in TVRs; I also have a cat that seems to have a life mission to get into the garage to sleep in my car!

Some good info - thanks - the more the merrier!

I'd love go down the wanting to keep mine completely original route but she's never going to be concourse so what the hell. biggrin

I'm a bit more reassured if you can recolour trim easily - at least then I can get something that is about the right colour and then get one of the trim restoration kits that are mentioned elsewhere and get them to colur match it I guess?

As for cats and TVRs - yup - one got under my soft top last year (I usually leave it with the roof off and just the soft cover over) and obviously couldn't get back out so ripped the crap out of the tops of my door trims and the trim that runs just under the fold down roof section. frown

No, the seats were wedgewood blue, cracked and generally grubby. I sent a sample of the grey leather for colour matching to furniture clinic, purchased a medium size kit and spent a weekend changing the colour. Remarkably the process 'repairs' the cracks and although time consuming is relatively stright forward. (one consideration is to either buy or borrow a small compressor or purchase extra air cans).
The centre console is original colours.

I did my seats about a year ago (when the photo was taken) and have worn well and have no issue in recommending the process.

If you look at the website there are loads of how to guides etc, and quite a few people on here have either restored their colours or changed them.

So does the kit only work on leather or does it do vinyl too?

This is sounding like a better way forward...

It does work on vinyl, Seeby (on here) did his seats with vinyl sides and it seems to have taken, I also seem to recall there being a discussion on here somewhere recently on this very subject, the outcome being positive and probably worth a quick search.
