2005 DB9 front grille

Hi all,

I'm soon to be working on an 05 plate DB9. A bit of a restoration job.

See pics:





You can see the front grille has seen better days. In my (limited) experience, it looks as though the grille has a coating on it (and it is the coating that has started to flake away?)

Has anyone else ever come across this?

Thoughts and opinions appreciated.

Hello Jim!

Never seen one painted like that, could be someone had it painted thinking it would look better.

Why not try and just strip it?

Mine was looking the same,I just took it off and then had it taken in parts:stainless blades and plastic holding bits,treated the blades with paint sripper,reassemble and a nice and shiny grill at no cost.

Agree with above - looks to me like a dodgy paint job of some description!

Mine was like that (nit as bad) and there's nothing dodgy about my car!

It was a factory finish, there is a thin dark grey plastic coating on it which gets stone chipped and then peels away. I had Chiltern chemical dip and strip and then polish it - came up perfectly and stayed perfect.

There's a gorgeous stainless grille under there waiting to be freed!
