new to forum and TVR

Well after 17 years of wanting I finally pick up my TVR Chimaera tommorow, slightly nervous and excited at the same time, 34 years old and feel a bit like I used to do age 7 the day before christmas!House sale fell through 2 weeks before completion
, so thought sod it i'm getting a tvr didn't want to spend loads as house may sell again soon ( ha!)
The chimaera is a 4.5 with 46k, paint work needs a bit of TLC, swirls, scuff ect, but interior full leven stuff, tuscan seats, roll bar, new carpets. Mechanically: tornado chip , ACT induction kit, ACT trumpet things ( no idea what they do,,,sorry!), hot start mod, led boot mod and loads of other bits im not sure what they do.
Daily driver is a re-mapped 2007 golf GTI with approx 245 bhp, which I thought was pretty quick,,,, then I went out in the TVR!
Nice to meet you all and will try to stick some pics on this weekend after I collect the car.
cheers Rob Lees

We want Pics, pics pics!!!
Welcome to forum and good luck with your new purchase. Sounds like you have found yourself a nice example with some sensible mods. As others have said take it easy until you know the car and don't boot it until everything is straight... oh be especially careful in the wet as they do snap.
Enjoy!

well picked it up, drove it home and all well after I got used to pedal placement and clutch. One thing that is of possible concern is that driving back down the M62 50 mph average speed camera bit and around 2000 rpm car started to shunt / trying to stall?, accelerate fine, lifting off throttle fine. slowing down to a junction in 5th wouldnt start to feel like stalling until the revs dropped reeally low, so appears to be when trying to maintain a speed in a certain gear ? around 2000 rpm really shunting the transmission ?. It may well be me not being used to the car and it never did it when the guy took me out for a good half hour test run. Any advice most welcome. also what does the MIL light mean on the dash, the guy has given me loads of paper work, books, magazines take me a week to find manual.

Fuel filter? ECU reader came with car, will plug in and have a look, the guy phoned to see if all well on run home, I mentioned it to him, said he never had that trouble ( i beleive him for what its worth)Car not been used for ages, took me for blast a week ago and not been run since. He wondered if plugs loose or misfire at certain revs, not so noticeable at higher revs as other cylinders compensate? will report back when I can figure out the ECU thingy.... sat looking at it out the window... bloody ace! It had Mark Adams tornado chip if that makes any odds.

Sounds like the classic shunting. Use search (or Google
)Loads of people have this if so - some hypotheses as to why it happens, (possibly to do with long cam overlap permitting exhaust gas to contaminate incoming charge in plenum) but just have to "drive around it" if so...
HTH,
Dom
The shunting sounds like poor mixture, probably a duff sensor, hopefully not the air mass one. They are not cheap. The fault reader of the ECU should show this.
My car stood for a while and it was a real pain for a while. It eventually cleared although it took about three weeks and half a ozen journies. One thing which worked on mine was removing the multipin connector to the ECU, putting a bit of contact cream/spray on the connections then replacing it. It was like a tune up. I then did it twice a year.
Don't accept 'they all do that, sir.' They don't. However, some problems are elusive and take ages to source.
