Hi guys,

I am looking to sell my Westfield kit car and ford cougar v6 to buy a Elise as my everyday car. My question is should i go for a mint MKI 111s or a lower spec MKII like the tourer. I assume the performance isn't that different. I will have between £15-18k to spend. I know the performance won't be the same as the Westy, but at least I can take it away for the weekend without worrying if it'll rain....

Other question is, can you fit a bike rack to the elise? Without making a mess of the body work?

S1 111s has more horses, CR box and will be quicker - probably more in tune with what you're used to in the westy.

S2 Tourer will have more comforts and ride will be more supple, plus you have less horses so will not be as quick.

Drive both, see which one you like best...

I currently have an S1 with only 1 mod - Lotus Sport Exhaust - and it's nice enough, I think by the end of summer I'll want more though... S2 111s beckons next year if I can justify the outlay of another £150 a month

Worth noting that the S2 111S is more powerful than the S1 111S, but lacks the close ratio box (just to make things simple).

The only bike rack I've seen fitted was mounted to the boot rack. The original Lotus versions of the rack are expensive but kiwipete (via Seloc or Lotus BBS) was supplying some home-grown versions for under £200 iirc.

I don't reckon the bike rack will work too well to be honest. Especially on an S2 which has lighter, but thinner clams.

IIRC there is no boot rack available for an S2 because the clams are thinner.

I have, however, seen racks on VX220s - step forward Tim
