Right then, I am on the search for my next car I am hoping to be buying it around the end of October. Birthday present to my self, my budget is £1000 something with manageable insurance classic policy would be good as it will be parked on the street in Sheffield. I'm 27.

My previous car history as a bit of background. Started off with my parents Hyundai accent 1.3cc which was handed down trashed to death, new gearbox and past on to my sister. Then I got a MK5 fiesta zetec s excellent car so much fun. Was the actual car driven by VBH on original top gear in the test. At the same time I got a classic mini with a 1340cc MG metro engine fast road cams, stripped, buckets, harnesses, damper, exhaust etc. such a good fast car but had to sell on to supplement going back to uni for a masters.

Last year I started a new job with company car so have been driving an 11 plate diesel Megane for the last 22k miles. Nice comfy, plenty of kit but dog slow.

I bought a K11 micra back in October for £175 which I have just sold for £350 after fixing her up. Welding, clutch, cv joints etc which I really enjoyed doing.

Now I want something fun (does this mean RWD?) been thinking mk1 mx5 obviously. Then my mind wondered to mk2 mr2 plenty of these in budget and also dare I say it MGF's as I've noticed a few more pop up locally recently.

So I ask what should I be focussing on for £1000, less is always better if possible. Do I need RWD? What could you suggest?

Cheers
Matt

I know as the Fiesta and Mini were so much fun, i quite like the idea of getting a two seater before kids etc come along as getting married in a couple of weeks and then kids will only be a few years away.

Quite alot of MG ZR/R's are popping up beloew £800 at the moment, they could be good honest cheap fun for a year?
