4.5 Speed Six at Le Mans Classic
Discussion
Hi all, I wanted to post a quick note following my trip down to Le Mans Classic.
I was lucky enough to get my car (TVR Tuscan S 4.5 SuperSport) on track at the Le Mans Classic which was my first chance to compare her against various other high performance cars. Simply put, she ran beautifully all the way there and back (about 1000 miles) and was outstanding on the track.
We did 3 laps of the full Le Mans circuit blasting past a couple of V12 Ferraris and 911 Porsches, a Ford GT, an Aston V8 and a Morgan Aero and then watched them disappear in the rear view mirrors while catching up to the pace car, a BMW M3 V8, which certainly wasn't dawdling.
I reckon I hit around 170mph at 6500rpm on the Mulsanne straight before braking for the chicane. And the engine was still pulling hard!
It was a similar story out of the corners too, as the acceleration was just quicker than the other cars. I should add that I am running a CR box with 3.73 diff and 265 R888s on the rear.
Thank you Dom for building such a stunning engine. It just keeps getting better! Here's hoping for fine weather at Bedford tomorrow...
Cheers,
J

Great news, I would have loved to have got a 4.5L in mine during my rebuild but it was just a bit rich for me unfortunatley and I'm not sure I have the driving talent to make It a worthwile upgrade for me.
But Dom has built me a cracking 4.0L so all good.
The 4.3 and 4.5 really seem to be perfoming though which is great news for the SP6 community.

I had to sit it out at 105-110 on Mulsanne - ride was just a little twitchy. The 4.5s certainly had it. Bump steer correction and suspension refresh are going to come first for me (hopefully) over the engine though.
Has your T350 done a lot of miles? I have always found them to be the most solid handling straight out of the bag.Gassing Station | Speed Six Engine | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
