Insuring a UK car as a non-resident

Living in Switzerland and want to get insurance on a UK registered car to keep there. Tried numerous brokers with no success.

Does anyone know of a good legal work-around?

Unfortunately registering in the name of a UK resident isn't possible as I'm ultimately planning to export and need to prove ownership.

I've recently gone down this route and used:

I find it amazing that my insurability should be so much in question simply because I spend very little time in the UK right now. Expect your premium to be multiplied by at least a factor of 2 compared to a resident.
