Need to sell one of the motors as I need to free up some cash.

I work from home so the Porker does me nicely. Occasion school runs and mainly driving for pleasure.
The wife commutes 15 miles A/B roads in the 330d Coupe. Gets 38 mpg. This is also used as the 'family car' for two small lads. The Z3M Coupe is a pure indulgence, 50k miles and FBMWSH and mint, lives in the garage.

Do I

A) Sell the 330d Coupe, as it's depreciating the most, let the wife enjoy the Z3M Coupe on a daily basis (it's her favourite car) Use the 993 as the 'family' car.

B) Sell the Z3M Coupe, it hardly gets used, costs a lot to keep, and clogs up the garage space. You can't commute in a 3.2 straight six.

Now I know the immediate PH response will be keep the petrol and sell the weasel, but insightful comments/usual dross appreciated.

What drugs are you on? Of course you can.

My wife commuted on a purely 'urban' commute in a RX-8 and I very much doubt the Z3M is worse on fuel (especially knowing how much my wife likes the loud pedal wink).

Commute in a 3.2 is fine don't see nothing wrong with that wink
However how long before your small lads will no longer fit in the back the 911 really is not a spacious family car to be honest...

I would sell the 330d and keep the M Coupe.

I use my M Coupe everyday, doesn't seem bad on fuel giving high 20's with mixed driving, well into the 30's on a run.

Z3 M Coupes are likely to become quite interesting cars on the classic market.

Don't sell any of them. The depreciation of your 330d is protecting your investment in the Z3 M - by not using it that much you're probably holding onto an appreciating asset.

option B - have one "sensible" family-ish car (with a good boot and a bit of room in the back) and one more fun car.

Does the Z3MC really "cost a lot to keep"? Aside from insurance, and occasional routine preventative maintenance, are they that expensive an ownership proposition?

Wow, I'm lucky to see low 20's in mine - occasionally 27 on a motorway run!

Btw, OP, use mine everyday.

The one running the wrong fuel. How can you even consider selling the M? smile

I would make my decision after I had lifted the boot carpets in the Z3...

I really wanted one of these but all three I looked at had the same fault... I.E. the rear diff mounting was coming adrift. one of the cars had severe cracks in the boot floor and underneath. The other two had cracks (albeit small) around the spot welds on the boot floor.

I don't know if I was just unlucky but it put me off the Z3 after I read a lot of the reports of problems

I probably wouldn't sell any of them, if one absolutely had to go it would be the coal burner for sure. The Porsche is a winner and that Z3M coupe is stunning - I'd keep well ahold of the Z and the 911.

Sell the 330d, you'll be kicking yourself everyday when you get rid of the z3m, it is something special, the 330d is just a highpowered sales manager's car.

If the costs of running the z3m on the daily commute are really that bad, just get a cheap and cheerfull mx5 (or some other cheap yet fun to drive hack) for 80% of the commute, dont forget to let the M out every week though.

I would say they already are interesting cars, a decent one already goes for twice the price of an M3 from round the same time. I think you would kick yourself for letting it go too soon too cheap, but you also wouldn't want to start racking up the miles as a daily. Swap the 330d for a 5 touring; job done.
