Friday the 13th luck - Xbox has blown up!
Discussion
Is there a worse time to find out your xbox has given up the fight than 16:15pm on a Friday night, after a long, hard week at work?
A few weeks ago my xbox 360, which is about as old as xboxs get, I bought it when it first came out, started to act as though it didn't have a disc in the tray, and would display the "Open tray" text instead of "Play game". A few goes at opening and shutting the the tray would usually fix it, and it would spin the disc up and play it. It had been slowly getting worse, at times taking up to 10 minutes of trying to finally read the disc.
Now, it's gone for good I fear, I have been trying on and off since I got in from work and it's just telling me one thing - "No Battlefield 3 for you tonight, lad". What a pain in the arse, typical Friday 13th luck! This console has beaten the red ring of death two or three times now, each time being shipped off to Microsoft for repair , but now it's well past it's extended warranty and dead in the water. Oh well, looks like I'm off to get a new one on the morning then. Saying as the Xbox720 has been confirmed by Microsoft and is rumoured to be out next year (2014 more likely imo) the 360 to replace this useless paperweight I've got now does not have to last very long.
Any ideas what to do with the old one? Novelty door stop?

Ok, thanks.
Yep, that's one. It' a couple of years old, it was replaced the last time I sent my xbox away to get the red ring of death fixed. You can have it if you are willing to pay for the price of postage and a jiffy bag to send it in, PM me if you want to go ahead with this.Believe me, I scoured the internet for every trick to get it to work, but it really had reached the point of no return, it was open it, strip the thing down and clean the laser, check the motors for the drive's in/out function are not burned out etc, but that just seemed like hassle. After all, it's a few years since it last RROD'd, so that will not have been far off on the horizon for it any way.
