France - camp or hotel ?
Discussion
I'm up for camping, my mate has just bought a 350Z, (step up from his boy racer Focus ST) but he's insistent we do B&B/Gite/hotel thing. He's ex RAF so he's a bit of a tosser, but I don't hold that against him
So we're looking at a long weekend or so road trip. What's the verdict? tent or hotel? Any recommendations for roads/good destinations? Also, the 350Z has enough room for a toilet bag and bugger all else so I'll end up carrying all the gear
(and no golf club comments or wise arse remarks from the Grief girls)
Oh, and we're not ghey, just fancy a blast in Europeland
If anyone else fancies a few days on French roads drop me a PM...
Cheers,
Chilli

If you're going for a cheap hotel, "Première Classe" are better than "Formule 1": they at least have the toilets in the room!
The French equivalent to British B&B are called "gîtes", and you will find most of them on the offical website of Gîtes de France: http://en.gites-de-france.com/

Formula 1 is usually filled with prostitutes or people that have no papers and travel with their huge a$$ families.
I'm going to Italy for a little week and we doing half camping half b&b.
Camping sites in France are way cheap and still have all the amenities one can look for.
Where and when you planning on going ?

Not too sure that B+B in France is a gite - thought that was more the rent somewhere self catering style - chambre d'hote is what a French B+B is. We've found some really good ones so worth a decent look on the internet - as always there will be some not so good ones as well so do check reviews.
As above the hotel chains are also good alternatives but then it depends on where you are going as to what is about so good hunting!

Yes you are right, "chambres d'hôte" are more like B&B. But you will find many more gîtes here. Anyway a French "petit déjeuner" has nothing to do with a full English breakfast, just some coffee and a couple croissants

have done alot of road trips to southern france and to the atlantic coast. depends on the milage youre wanting to do.
normally going to lovely france should be 7 days min. and then to southern france. last trip we have done had been starting
off marseille and then going directly to italy. roads are coastline only but you will need min. 7 days otherwise it will
be just driving the whole day.
