DB9 child friendly?

I popped into my local AM dealer today and have decided that a DB9 is the car for me. However, it isn't that simple; my first child is due soon so I will need to fit a baby seat in the back ie rear facing from 0months onwards.

I took along the Maxi Cosi Pebble we have bought but there is absolutely no chance of it fitting; the front seat would not even click back into place! Does anyone know of one that will fit from birth or should I wait a year or so until I can use a forward facing seat in the back?

Not many seats fit the back, I recently found out after a visit to mother care and spent an hour trying seats and came away with nothing.

Check the car seat manufactures as lots list them but your best off trying them first, I know it's hard not yet having the car!

Britax Duo is the only seat that fits ok in the back - its really fiddly to get it fitted really tightly but can be done , even so the passenger seat needs to be well forward so if your passenger is over 5'7 its not happening. Forget a rear facing seat in the back its a no go .

How about a booster? My daughter is 5 and front seat passengers are about 5'6"

Okay so I've had another thought; if I were to put the rear facing baby seat in the passenger seat will there be enough room to put my 5'2" mrs in the back???

My mrs has suggested getting a Panamera as a solution which I love but am too concerned about the massive depreciation to follow!

We had a DB7 and got our then very small grandson in the back with a baby seat from Mothercare, I think it was a Britax and was much narrower than any other brand

And no there isn't enough room for the mrs in the back if you are going more than a hundred yards.

Don't flame me for this but I really don't like the rapide which is fortunate because they are well out of my budget!

It was in response to the post immediately preceding mine. So do you think a booster would work for my daughter? The answer I suspect will be useful to the OP, if not straight away then perhaps in a year or 5 ;-)

Mrs at 5'2 might fit but you wont be very popular , buy a granturismo if its so important to have something a bit interesting and carry the passengers well , not an Aston though!

You can always disable the passenger airbag. You can buy the "Service tool" from the Aston dealership which basically acts as a "Dummy". It means that your driver airbag will work but the passenger airbag won't. In short, this means you can put a rear facing seat in the front. They use these dummy switches when servicing the cars. (However do check if your car has side airbags too, mine doesnt so it isnt an issue)

Now...some may argue that you shouldnt put a childseat in the front and most mannufacturers wont recommend it,...but then again they rarely recommend anything. So...it is an option as I looked into it for my little one. However he is a little older. When he is a little older you can get a forward facing and use one of them in the back of your's of course. I have a vanquish 2+0 but can always put him in forward facing in the front as he is 20 months old. You know, I found that the older Porsche seats good for when babies are a litte older. I personally prefer the deats with the block in the front of the child as a pose to the straps. I have used this in my porker and given their small sholders I would trust this over the usual straps. Anyway, the old porsche seat with the seatbelt block across the belly of the kid fits the astons.

When all is said and done...use your wifes car for transporting baby! And use your for hacking it about.

OK this is your first child so you may not know this but children DESTROY the interior of cars. They don't mean to but they do and if it is not them then it is the stuff that goes with them. I had kids seats in the back of my old 996 turbo and we only took the nippers for short journeys when we fancied a change from the family hauler but it was still horrendous, we had puking, urination, things thrown, food incidents etc. etc.

If you get a DB9 get it for you and forget about the kids, I mean this in the spirit of friendship and in an attempt to save the interior of your intended purchase...

this is so true- a forensic team would have had a field day examining the interior of my car. The only advantage leather has is that "bodily fluids" from a baby are easy to wipe up off it.
We used the wifes car ALL the time with our kids once i realised this.
