I'm finding it really depressing that speed limits are getting lower. At one time cars were far more dangerous and yet the speed limits were higher. Now with very safe cars speed limits are being introduced that a running man can exceed (20) or a horse (40). Why can't the onus be placed back on the individual to act responsibly and to take responsibility for ones actions? Instead the feckless encourage a nanny state to wrap their pointless lives in cotton wool, to breed and generally waste resources. Where will it end? When the marching morons get cars that can only do 10 mph while playing sounds of racing engines (next gen BMW) and blowing air on their faces to emulate speed (3rd gen BMW) ? It seems to me that health and safety achieves so little but consumes so much. It truly numbs minds. I'm not at all unhappy with the idea that I won't be able to watch another 50 years "progress" but I worry for my children's future world.

Rant over

Cheers

agree, i also think they should raise the limit at certain times. When i finish work at 3 am i see 3 maybe 4 cars over a 20 mile period on the m62; id like to be able to do 80/90mph to get home quicker. Its not like theres anyone about!
