My mate has a late 90s Westfield SE which has no drive transmitted through the gearbox. Rather than just source a Type 3 for it he his thinking about a Type 9.
So...
Does anyone have any actual experience of this? In particular I'm interested in the positions of the gearbox mount and gear lever relative to the positions they are now. Other than that I'm assuming it's a prop change, clutch plate change and maybe a speedo cable.

Ferg,

might be useful to know which engine he's using, as i believe the input shafts vary in size so may need a new bush in the crank.

RE t3 to t9 swap can't give you any figs but g/lever and mount will not be in the same place ,aprop change is almost certain, possibly a spigot bearing change also ,but non of this is particularly difficult .A word with Westfield could well be a good route ,also contact with the owners club HTH

I'd suspect the clutch plate rather than the gearbox, for no drive symptoms. From memory the mount is further back as well as the gearlever. Yes you'll need a shorter prop.
