I bought a cheap one, and so far in over 3,000 miles it's only been the stereo that's been an issue. Oh and don't expect better than a 17mpg average long term unless you just do motorways. Provide huge grin factor every time I stamp on the accelerator.

I'm in Chimaera 450 at moment so mpg not a worry :-) think I may have to do a bit of further reading

Awesome cars, love the styling and still looks great/better than much newer metal. Like any performance car that occupied the kind of price bracket the M5 did when new, just because you can get one for <5k doesn't mean it will be a cheap as a 5k Mondeo to run. I'd avoid any that seem too good to be true and buy the best you can afford. No reason couldn't be used as a daily unless you do allot of miles....

Still in two minds about selling the Chimaera but think will be adding a M5 to the list of possible replacements
