Alloy wheel refurb advice

Hi, the alloys on my Land Rover Disco 3 are looking a bit scabby and I want to get them refurbed. However, taking all the wheels off and sending them away is going to be difficult, given the size of the thing. Is it worth considering a mobile wheel refurb service or would I be better off sending them away? I live in Bedfordshire if that helps.

Hi, if it's any help my local JLR dealer said that they can do my 20" Sepang's on the XKR for £100 per wheel (excluding the chrome ring) and they can book it in and do it all in a day. I'm sure they subco it out but they also offered a loan car for the day. Maybe not the cheapest but easy. Guy Salmon is the dealer, if they can do it can't see why others can't?

Some refurb companies near you may offer a service where you leave the car with them for a few days, saving you having to leave the car on stands at home.

If your a member of a club maybe someone has a spare set of wheels and tyres you could roll on till yours are refurbed? Or try the auctions sites and get a set for a few £100 quid?

Had wheels refurbished a few times, and only use companies which will take the time to do it properly. Can't believe that you could strip a wheel of it's paint, prepare the wheel and paint it. Then refit the tyre and balance it in the back of a small van. Last time I had the wheels on my Impreza done, it cost £85 plus VAT and took a couple of days to be done.
