I have to ask this, because it's one of those niggling things I have to sort. The electric windows on my 2000 X308 don't seem to have a one-touch raise and lower function. I have to hold the button down to open or close the windows.

Is this correct, or am I doing something wrong?

Ah, OK. I don't feel so stupid for asking now. Thanks for putting my mind at ease.

But you've still got a problem, as you clearly don't have the one-touch 'down'.

Anyone know what's wrong?

Don't know if it's the same or not, but on my 96 x300 sovereign, I have the "one touch" down and down by degrees if required. The "one touch" up isn't a feature for safety reasons I suspect, to save fingers etc. being trapped in a window that goes all the way up. To operate the "one touch" down, I simply tap the switch and it lowers fully, or until I tap it again, to stop it. To lower the window to a required depth, I hold the switch, and release it when required. Hope this helps.

That's interesting. I definitely don't have one touch down, but will try again. Perhaps a sticky switch?

I don't have an X308 myself, but is there anything in the handbook about needing to reset the windows sometimes, ie if the battery has been disconnected??

As I say, I don't know if it applies to the Jag, but it does to some cars. On one I had it was necessary, IIRC, to put the window up and then leave the button still depressed for a second or two until it 'beeped', thus resetting the window one-touch facility. However, it would be best to check the handbook first, which should explain whether the car has one-touch windows or not.

Thanks - that's a very good suggestion. Fortunately I have all the original books, so will check.

As above it should have one touch down re-programmed by keeping the button down until it beeps or clicks smile
