How to reverse direction of rotation of starter motor?

As per the title really - how can I do this? Specifically on an old (1960's) Triumph starter motor. I want to use it in another application and foolishly thought that inverting the polarity would change the direction of rotation. It doesn't...

think an auto sparky could do it by altering the internals, but you also need a different bendix as that wont work the wrong way..!!!

Don't need the bendix, so that's one thing less to worry about.
