Rubbish cars that are collectible
Discussion
Went for a walk with junior today and came across a house with 3 old skoda coupes on the drive (rapid?) and a reliant 3 wheeler, all in varying states of repair!
It got me thinking, these cars were a laughing stock not so long ago, are they really a collectors item now?
Nothing wrong with it like

The Rapid Coupe was never a joke:

I've driven one, the rear engined handling was different! What struck me most about it though was the gear box, it had no precision whatsoever! Then again nor did the brakes, it did feel like it was made of 3 inch thick steel though! We have a bloke up the road that loves his Peugeot 205s. He used to be a BMW fan and owned several e39s and others, but now drives a 1.1 205 as a daily, and has 3 others including 2 convertibles (including a 1.9 automatic).
I got a lift in the 1.1 and the ride quality was great, however, personally, I would diversify the collection a little.

I think these days we have a bit of love and affection for the under dog.. Which means that the likes of Allegros, Princesses, Maxis etc are all very collectable these days. You'll see these cars on ebay crawling with bids!
Old Jags are terrible cars really (come on, they are unreliable and rot like apples) but are all very collectable. The same can be said for all Alfas that pre-date the mid 90s.

apparently the the rear engine skodas are a bit of a weapon in the right hands with the right set up
I had a Skoda S110L for a while many, many moons ago. Hardly a weapon, not enough power to get into any trouble, but it was an absolute hoot to drive on gravel roads..../ thread

Does this count?

Spotted recently, I actually thought it looked great (despite the rubbish pic I took) but I'm sure a maestro turbo is both rubbish and collectable
They were a bit crap I suppose, but they were devastatingly quick - I once borrowed a Montego Turbo off a mate and to this day I still can not get over how fast the bloody thing was - and if you believe the figures, the maestro was even quicker
