Following on from an earlier topic. What is the longest you have manged to extend a mundane task into an extended drive? I do hope somebody went to Tesco in Aberdeen and ended up on the Stelvio Pass. Gentlemen, start your stories...

When I first bought my 911 I took it for a test run, drove around the block, filled up with petrol. Hit the motorway and before I knew it I was in Nottingham. Popped in to see a friend, was only midday. Carried on North ended up at a friends house just outside Glasgow. Stopped for dinner - a rather disgusting chinese and headed home after a second refuel. I lived in mid-Essex so it was just over 900 miles in total in one day.

numerous others but that was the one that was unplanned

I went for a Sunday morning blast in the mountains near where I live. I was in a petrol station and just about to go home with the papers and the ingredients for a good breakfast when I was approached by two very attractive backpacker women. They were wondering if I knew when the next bus was. The area was fairly rural and I had no idea so I offered to drive them to the nearest town about five miles away. While they were in the car it started raining heavily so I ended up driving them over 100 miles to their final destination. After they bought me breakfast, I just drove home.

I sometimes wonder if I should have taken their contact details but in the moment it seemed right not to.

That's the way I read it....
(It's a standard phrase isn't it, ".....and I ended up buying her breakfast, if you know what I mean......." wink )

I think this thread was won on the first reply.

Please tell me the reason you didn't bum them into next week is cus you previously spent the past 2 nights with an orgy of top-class hookers - your helmet was throbbing like a Belisha beacon - you needed to cool him off - before going home to do it all again, for a 3rd night. Now that i could maybe understand, but....

Absolutely me too - but I required confirmation of this lucky encounter! It's a potentially huge tick on the old "bucket list"! smile

Damn, this thread reminds me of when I spent a week in Ibiza. Just me and two women I knew well, sharing a room. One was French, the other Portuguese.

I'd some years back had a little foray with the French one, so spent the whole trip focusing on the Portuguese one, and not to upset her, kept well away from Frenchy. (Which did work out ok by the way by the holiday end).

It was only when I got back, Frenchy informed me I could have had both whilst away, if I had so wanted...... Chance missed.

12 years ago, and still I can't forgive myself for missing out. .... 12 years of pain.

I had a Maserati on a weekend demo from Manchester a few years ago.

After collection on Saturday morning, I drove home to Crewe to take the family out for a run.

While on the run I had a call from a friend of mine saying he was off to take his lad to see Thomas in Didcot, I thought it would be nice to meet him there with my lad.

Then, on leaving Didcot, I thought I would route back via Bristol as an old friend was about to emigrate to Canada so wanted to say hi.

Wife then said, now we are in Bristol shall we pop in to see my sister in Dorchester? So we drove down and crashed overnight there.

Next morning, it seemed rude not to nip to the seaside before heading back, via Reading to catch up with another old friend.

Dropped family off in Crewe and returned car to Manchester complete with and extra 700 miles on the ODO.

Thought I had better go ahead and buy a car off the salesman as a result!

Then imagine the sheer frustration (and missed opportunity of a lifetime), where both of them offer themselves to you on a plate, together! However, you have been drinking VERY heavily and instead of taking them up on their generous offer, you pass out and wake up 12 hours later, alone, with a huge headache and some odd thoughts running through your head ..... weeping
