996 Turbo's Turbo hot side seal leaking, oil overflow?
Discussion
I installed the 16G for less than a month, but I found that one of my turbo is leaking from the seal btw cold and hot side, looks not serious but it leaks even I didnt drive it for a week, I have replaced the upper oil feed line with a aftermarket and it is slightly bigger size(4an), as the stock one is hard to replace without dropping the engine.
Does it look like the cause on the leak? Overflow oil to the turbo?

Hi, we have just had one do this and it required a rebuild due to corrosion.
The centre casing was corroded and weeping oil just like that one is in the photograph.
Rough cost for rebuild was in the region of £650.00 plus fitting.

And that is assuming that the turbos don't fall apart when you dismantle them - last week had a set with same issue that ended up being thrown away.
Hear you re oil lines but you should not be changing the size - they are designed to allow a certain flow as well.
Have you checked that the metal o-ring has been replaced correctly because sometimes this gets missed.
I presume you have changed your fpr as well for theses hybrids

Just had this on mine Ken.
Had mine in for a thorough overhaul of the exhausts, Turbo's, oil lines etc a few months ago at Redline Racing. The old Turbo's were left sat on a work bench over night, next morning one of the mechy's tried to spin the blades in the drivers side Turbo and noticed it was stuck.
The blades were catching the casing. On further investigation they noticed a hair line crack in the casing. Luckily I already had new Turbo's waiting to be installed as part of the work.
But it's worth noting, once there off, these things often don't want to go back together again.

Actually working had found the oil feed valve was something like not having regular restrict and replaced another working one.Hear you re oil lines but you should not be changing the size - they are designed to allow a certain flow as well.

It was fine for some weeks and I did some pull (over-boosted to 1.5bar, wastegate too tight) in between these weeks, 2 days ago, lift the car up and found the oil leaks there again.
Oil feed line is 4an in size, type of steel brake line. By the way, which metal o ring you mean? I didnt replace any o-ring at all. Can you point out with the diagram?
And yes, I have a 5 bar on with it.

Just check that the oil leak is not running down from above the turbo charger where the high pressure feed goes into the turbo check valve as there is a copper sealing washer underneath the check valve that can weep if disturbed.
Mike
Got it, will check it in workshop tomorrow, but as I remember, it is not from the top, it is from the seal. As per the last fix found the valve having less restrictive as it should, what is the cause to blow the check valve at all?Mike
