Fill in car while for body lift.

It will have to happen at some point in my Cerbs life , It got me thinking. I would think the whole job would take me up to 2 years to do the job and get it right. I have a good fun daily driver I share with the GF a cooper s. But i would need a good fun stop gap car for the summer.
So if you had so a absolute max budget of say 7.5K to spend on a car that would hopefully sell on for more or less what you paid for it in a couple of summers time what would you go for?
I would not go for a second TVR as i want something more everyday and maintenance free so i could spend my free time on the Cerb

Watch out for Boxsters the cam chains fall off and destroy the engine, any porsche that era that is non dry sump has this problem, so only Turbo's and GT's.So if you had so a absolute max budget of say 7.5K to spend on a car that would hopefully sell on for more or less what you paid for it in a couple of summers time what would you go for?

S1 Elise very slow, like really slow, and old enough to be Lots Of Trouble Usually serious
Honda? yeah why not, super revvy though.
Well I've had 2 out the 3 and driven the third as a mate had one.
Boxster S - Used as a daily car, and that's exactly what it is - a good daily driver. Comfy, all the gadgets, not bad on fuel and pretty cheap to run. That was up until the intermediate shaft snapped. Luckily Porsche footed most the bill. As a fun car, did I find myself thinking it's a nice day today I'll take the Porsche out round Snowdonia way? - no. It just didn't do it for me once you've had TVR's, maybe down to the fact I used it everyday but there was no sense of occassion in it.
Elise - Top fun, raw, great handling but as you've touched on a weekend away is quite a squeeze.
S2000 - Mate had one which I drove a few times. Bit plasticy inside, belting engine BUT, reving the backside off it to actually get the thing to go was a tad tedious.
Someone mentioned the VX220 and I've got to say if I was thinking of going that route again I'd take one of these over the S1 Elise any day. (can't comment on S2 though) Again though, weekends away very difficult!

Having gone from TVR to a Zed I agree. Clearly not in the same league grunt wise, but quick enough for a sensible daily. Get a late GT spec and they're pretty good - all the gadgets from electric, heated seats & climate control to a half decent Bose sound system. The only things to watch for is a weak clutch and clicking axles. Clutch is a pain as it's expensive labour-wise to replace but the clicking axles are a relatively simple cheap fix; click.
The Honda s2000, The more i look at them the more i like them. I had a test drive of a CTR a few months ago and i really liked the V-tec lump ( SWMBO did not like the CTR so we are keeping the Bini for now

They are pretty cheap sports cars 4-5k now much cheaper than i first thought any one ever owned one and how do they compare next to say a Chim?

My first Boxster lasted 3 months and the second a month. Very common and spare parts expensive. 350z is good shout I loved mine and would go back you would even get a jdm cab for your budget. What about Z3m for something a bit different or performance saloon like clk 55 amg or even m5 ?
