those screeching brakes
Discussion
I know I posted this before ,but is there really no solution to this ? It has actually become so bad it is painful to drive the car, every dab on the brakes brings this fingernails down blackboard screech at horrific volume that not only has every single person within 1/2 mile staring at you ,but does serious ear damage as well ?
I have suffered with this issue in the past. AM Wilmslow told me they could coat the brakes but it would only be a temporary measure and it is due to the brakes being designed for heavy braking from speed and not for casual day to day motoring and there in lies the answer. I can resolve my squealing brakes by performing two heavy braking stops. As I live quite near a motorway I go out late-ish whilst it's quiet and as I come off the next junction, with no other cars around, brake really hard from speed and then as I come off at my junction, do the same again and for me the problem is sorted.
Obviously only do it if it's safe from too much other traffic, weather etc. etc.

I found out by accident (AFTER replacing pads and discs with no avail) that my squealing was actually cause by the hand brake pad, to test it drive with the hand brake on and see if it squeals when you break, applied some grease and perfectly quiet. I too was at a point where I would rather not dry the car.

This is quite common apparently - I had the same too - my handbrake pads were squeaking with lock on and over speed bumps. Applying the handbrake to put them in proper contact with the discs quietened it down. I drove down the dual carriageway with it lightly applied for a while to get some heat into them and that seemed to fix it, been fine since.Pete
My DBS drove me mad with low speed brake squeal. I followed the dealers' advice and nailed the brakes as hard as I could from 100mph. What I'm informed is "an Aston Martin procedure Sir". It worked great!
And I was advised not to use anything but soap and water on the wheels for fear of more aggressive compounds glazing the carbon discs/pad setup I guess.

I'm told this is sound advice Behr
Even AMDBSNick informed me over the weekend that although he lets his local Polish Car Wash do the car, under no circumstances are they permitted near the wheels

How happy it makes me when I roar into the Waitrose underground car park in the DBS and park right next to their pitch whilst they think they've lined up another victim - muwahahah!

Behr, exactly right.....states in the owners guide:
To avoid possible damage to the ceramic brake discs, when washing the road wheeels with products/ materials other than a mild soapy solution always remove the wheels from the vehicle.
What about my dog peeing on them To avoid possible damage to the ceramic brake discs, when washing the road wheeels with products/ materials other than a mild soapy solution always remove the wheels from the vehicle.
