First time at knockhill and with a new car so first off apologies if I was driving like a nob on the first few laps it was stupidly busy and I was like a kid in a sweet shop :-)

Anyway all was well to begin with but as the session progressed I was hitting second for the hairpin and coming up the home straight the second to third upshift was crunching. First time I assumed driver error but after a few more laps I don't think so.

Perhaps I'm being a bit paranoid now but as I left I could swear shifting into 3rd or 5th feels different, the only way I can describe it is that the shift feels plasticy it's not smooth and requires just a little more force.

Not crunching under road conditions but I'm sure it doesn't feel right

Thoughts?

Was yours the blue turbo? I was out tonight to in my.....ahem ......tintop xr2, thought the driving standard was good tonight considering how busy it was and the mix of cars!

Black 993 turbo s was stunning!

Sorry don't know what problem could be but has to be more of a linkage problem surely so hopefully not to bad?

Cheers

My 996tt always does this on track, even with a brand new Porsche gearbox ! Changeing my gearbox oil every other track day helps, then slowing down my shift speed, now no more crunching. I guess the oil is getting to hot, and that's why GT2's have oil coolers. I'm putting GL5 spec oil in now.

In a way that's comforting to hear but on the other hand frown

Is the crunching any less with GL5 oil?

Yes it's a lot better. It's was always fine in the mornings, but after about 5 15 minute sessions I'd get the problem. If I let it cool down for a hour it would be fine again. It always behaves itself on the road.
